Gazebo Project

Dear Friends of Rugby,

My name is Matthew Stagg. I am a junior in high school in Nashville. When my family is not in Nashville, we spend much of our free time at The Lindens, our house in Rugby. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 31 in Nashville and I will be constructing a gazebo in Rugby during the next two weeks for my Eagle Scout Project. The gazebo will be located in the lot owned by Historic Rugby just to the right of Kingstone Lisle. During the next few days, we will be pouring the concrete for the footers and constructing the sandstone piers. Construction of the wooden components of the gazebo will take place on the 28th and 29th of December. Everyone is invited to come out and help those two days or simply visit and cheer on the volunteer builders, or stop by during the next few days to see the progress with the foundation.

This project comes at no cost to Historic Rugby, and will be funded entirely by donations from friends, family, members of the community, and other Rugby supporters. If you would like to make a donation to this project, please send a check to HRI and in the memo line of the check write, “Restricted for Gazebo.” HRI has agreed to accept donations to offset the cost of the gazebo materials so that all donations are tax deductible. Checks may be mailed to the following address:

Historic Rugby, Inc
PO Box 8
Rugby, TN 37733

You may also drop off checks at the HRI offices or to me at The Lindens. The gazebo will be owned by Historic Rugby and available for use by village residents and visitors.

Thank you for your support of HRI and my Eagle project,
Matthew Stagg
