Meet artist Vern Bonham, in The Gallery at Rugby, 1-3 p.m. EST, FREE

Bonham has been involved in woodworking all his life. As a child in Morgan County’s Shady Grove, he drove nails into a walnut stump. He went on to industrial woodworking in Illinois at Joliet High School and cabinet making for the Joliet Cabinet Co.

He began making boxes professionally in 1982 and once did a dozen shows a year. Now he does only one major show a year, the Foothills Craft Guild Show in Knoxville. His hand-size boxes in both domestic and exotic hardwoods come in many shapes and sizes. Segmented boxes are his latest offering.
