Chair Caning Workshop, Oct. 9, 10-4 EDT

Nicole Reeder will be teaching the art of chair caning with a pressed cane reed. You will learn about this ancient and practical skill and will be able to replace the seats of your chairs. Nicole will teach you how to weave a seat for your own chair or she will provide you with a chair.
She has been restoring chairs for nearly 20 years. She works with many different types of materials including flat reed, cane, hickory bark, rush, and shaker tape. The location will be historic Uffington House, Rugby’s founder’s mother’s home dating to the 1880s.

You will need to send a picture of the chair, if you want to bring one, to make sure it is compatible for this class. Please text picture to 931-397-7504 with your name.
Please Bring: Empty Spray Bottle, Large Pan, Clamps, Hot Glue Gun w/ extra Sticks, Blow dryer (Optional).
