Everyone is invited to attend a new book club sponsored by the Historic Rugby Board of Directors.
Book to be discussed: On Viney’s Mountain, By Joan Donaldson
Proposed first meeting Fri. Feb. 12 at 7:30-8:45 p.m. EST; 6:30-7:45 CST via Zoom (please do not share Zoom info on Social Media to avoid “Zoom Bombing” — e-mail jamquail@gmail.com for zoom link; please RSVP)
We plan 4 weekly meetings (2/12; 2/19; 2/26; 3/5) to discuss this short novel, with attention to roles of women like the Rugby weaver Dicie Fletcher on whom the book is based; the Rugby colony founded by Thomas Hughes in 1880 and roles for women; Rugby and Appalachian Culture; Historic Rugby and the Arts; Rugby authors – anything else people wish to discuss. Come for one session, two, or all! (Can adjust days/times to accommodate the most people interested). Special session with author Joan Donaldson on March 5; on Feb. 26 special guest Mirrah Johnson, Fiber Artist.
For our first meeting, we can discuss the first few pages of the book available on Amazon below, AND background on Rugby; order your copy of the book through your local bookstore, Amazon, or it’s free on Kindle Unlimited Membership!
