We’ll plan to hike Laurel Branch Trail and go on to the Gentlemen’s Swimming Hole on the Clear Fork River in the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area. (This will allow us to stay well away from the area of the Massengale Homeplace, where a controlled burn is scheduled to be carried out sometime in February depending on weather conditions.)
No special leader is scheduled for this hike, so join in with knowledgeable local folks who know the area’s trails. With winter rain, the Clear Fork may be a rapidly flowing sight to behold! It’s always changing in this season. You might even see icicles along the bluffs!
Remember to dress for the weather, bring water and a snack and maybe even a hiking stick.
