Madame Hughes’ Home Coming Back To Life

In the last few years, Historic Rugby has increased the number of public events at Uffington House, Margaret Hughes’ home in Rugby. The home has become one of the most popular and intriguing locations in the village. It’s the site of many formal teas, and is a favorite for workshops. Our goal is to add more events for this magnificent old building.

But there’s work that needs to be done first. We just finished chimney improvements and repairs, and reglazing some windows. But to really make Madame Hughes’ home shine, we also need:

  • A roof replacement
  • Water heater repair
  • Additional window work
  • Bathroom work downstairs, and the reinstallation of the bathroom upstairs (so we can accommodate seasonal workers with housing)
  • Scraping and painting of the fascia
  • Porch furniture
  • More raised beds in the garden
