Christmas in July Nonprofit Expo, July 13
FREE! 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time
Historic Rugby is hosting the second annual Christmas in July event on Saturday, July 13 from 10-5 Eastern (9-4 Central). Free admission. Take the time to get some early Christmas shopping out of the way while exploring a lovely Victorian village just off State Scenic Highway 52.
Although Christmas is always good, what is even better is that this event will be supporting local charities and non-profits. Morgan-Scott Project, the Unicorn Fund, Scott County Family Justice Center, Morgan County Historical Society, Fentress County Historical Society, and many others will be here to talk about the good that they are doing for the area.
Music and entertainment will be provided all day by Fiddlin’ Chip Bailey, Gerald Hanwright, and the Tennessee Sacred Harp Singers. Christ Church Episcopal will present a Christmas-theme Jumble Sale and bake sale just behind the church (11-4 Eastern). Look for several other vendors selling unique gifts.

Hike with State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath
SATURDAY | JULY 20
8 AM Eastern, Rugby Visitor Centre
Every third Saturday of the month, the Friends of the Rugby State Natural area host a guided hike. These moderate hikes range from 1.5 to 3 miles long. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and snacks, and watch the weather. This week’s special guest leader: Randy Hedgepath, Tennessee state naturalist, who will amuse you with his observations on what he calls “a saunter, not a hike.”
RSNA boasts beautiful slopes and loops underneath towering umbrella magnolia and hemlock. By June, the mountain is hot, the skies are clear blue, and taking a dip in the Gentlemen’s Swimming Hole after a jaunt through the woods is a welcome activity. Or have lunch at the Harrow Road Cafe.
We meet at 8:00 AM Eastern (7 Central) in front of the Historic Rugby Visitor Centre.
