Hike with State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath

SATURDAY | SEPT 21
10:00 AM EDT Rugby Visitor Centre

Every third Saturday of the month, the Friends of the Rugby State Natural area host a guided hike. These moderate hikes range from 1.5 to 3 miles long. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and snacks, and watch the weather. This week’s special leader for what he calls “a saunter, not a hike” is Randy Hedgepath, Tennessee State Naturalist. Enjoy his insights into the birds, plants, trees and other treasures of the Cumberland Plateau.

RSNA boasts beautiful slopes and loops underneath towering umbrella magnolia and hemlock. Days are getting cooler, leaf litter begins to collect around the trees, and a mushroom or twenty appear in brilliant whites, pockmarked reds, and watery lavenders.

We meet at 10:00 AM Eastern in front of the Historic Rugby Visitor Centre.
