Beekeeping 101 “The Bee Basics” with Stephen Hollen, and Beeswax Crafts with Aaron & Erin Huffstetler, My Frugal Home

The morning will kick off with Stephen Hollen for our Beekeeping 101.

This session will cover introduction to beekeeping and the annual life cycle of the hive. Participants will start with Winter preparation for a new year of beekeeping, recommended reading, hive and equipment and clothing selection, site locations, ordering your bees, best places to order bees AND pests that can travel with shipped bees and types of hives. Stephen will then cover Spring, Summer and Fall planning too! Stephen has been a beekeeper for 8 years and currently has 8 hives.

After lunch, join husband and wife team, Erin and Aaron Huffstetler, of My Frugal Home, to try your hand at crafting with honey and beeswax. They’ll show you how to make honey soap and beeswax whipped body butter. Take home what you make! All supplies are provided.

Cost is $45 per person*. There will be a break for lunch. *Lunch not included in workshop cost.
