Rugby Quilts Wave the Red, White and Blue with a unique two day Quilt Event honoring and preserving the art and heritage of quilting, past and present!

Come enjoy a relaxing day or two on the scenic Cumberland Plateau in the historic village of Rugby in East Tennessee. The Wave the Red, White and Blue Quilt Event takes place on Friday, April 10th and Saturday, April 11th, 2015. The event is open from 10:00 a.m until 6:00 p.m., Eastern time, each day. Admission will be $10, with veterans enjoying free admission!

There will be lots to do including presentations by Sue Reich at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.on Friday and at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Her special collection of WWII Quilts will be available for viewing throughout the show!

Sue Reich is a quilt historian and lecturer who began her study of quilt history with the Connecticut Quilt Search Project in 1991 and has served on the board since its beginning. She is a co-author for “Quilts and Quiltmakers Covering Connecticut,” the documentation book of Connecticut quilts. In 2007, she compiled two books “Quilting News of Yesteryear: 1,000 Pieces and Counting” and Quilting News of Yesteryear: Crazy as a Bed-Quilt.” She lectures widely on World War II quilts, Connecticut quilts, Crazy quilts, Multitudinous Pieced quilts, and floral quilts. Her extensive collection of World War II quilts has been exhibited at the Quilter’s Hall of Fame, the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oakridge, TN, and the New England Quilt Museum.

Come view both old quilts and new quilts on display in historic settings and enjoy visiting and shopping with your favorite vendors. Enjoy a delicious traditional British meal or  choose from the daily fare menu at the Harrow Road Cafe.
