Congratulations to Christ Church Episcopal on the occasion of their historic 125th year anniversary! Benita Howell authored an article for the September HRI membership newsletter in which she writes, in part, “…the last service Christ Church held in the town hall building was the burial rite for Madame Hughes on October 1887. The new building had been in use for almost a year before the Bishop of Tennessee, Reverend Charles Todd Quintard consecrated it on Wednesday, October 3, 1888…. Forty-five communicants were present for the church consecration and confirmation service.”
Bishop George Young will visit Christ Church Sunday, October 6, 2013, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the building dedication. Everyone is welcome to attend. Plan a weekend stay in Rugby so that you also can enjoy the annual Michaelmas Festival and Tea on October 5th!
We at Historic Rugby offer our most sincere thanks to Christ Church and its membership for the generosity they have shown us over the years in allowing this beautiful building to be included in the Historic Rugby tour. Thank-you!
We wish all the best to everyone at Christ Church Episcopal as they celebrate this important anniversary!
