Long time supporter of Historic Rugby, Mr. William H. (Bill) Swain, passed away June 23 at age 92. As a visionary businessman in the logging, telephone, utilities and banking industries, he helped modernize Scott County. He was a dedicated community leader and philanthropist whose tireless efforts helped initiate many important projects in the county, including the first hospital, the Scott County Museum at Scott County High School and the satellite campus of Roane State Community College. Mr. Swain was also a  He and his family have done much over the years to help with our preservation efforts.  In recent years he was frequently seen with family and friends at the Harrow Road Café and at Rugby events and fundraisers.  He will be greatly missed.
